This is particu larly trun In winter where the va riation should usually run to lighter lubricants. To forestall the possi bility of pump breakage the engine oil should be reasonably light, but consideration should be made for the fact that In normal driving the engine will be operating ut u high rVniperaturo. particularly if the dlrver climbs a sleep bill and for gets to open the radiator shutters wide. Kor short jumps, with long waits In the cold in between, the engine will bum-fit by a very light oil. Deviate from this extreme in accordanco with tho use to which the car is put and its age. Yon can gel better results from the traes misslon in city winter work h' adding plain engine oil to the case. This not only reduces gear drag, but helps to lubricate the shifter forUs. If you were going to climb mountains in winter, or take long trips as a regular diet, however, such light lubricant might be in jurious to the gears. two ma-ve made great headway. The Chrysler is tinhine in thai it incorporates the power and speed of u, big car in a machine built on a relatively short wheel base and with economical gaso line, oil and tire consumption. The advantages of the Chrysler are tho result of the advanced engineering built into the car, itseir. The Maxwell, too, like the Chrvsh r embodies many advanced engineering features which places it among the leaders in the four cylinder cla.s.s. The new Maxwell cars develop exceptional speed and power with a motor of light piston displacement thus combining eco nomical operation with great roau ability. Mr. Krench will lie located for tho present in Ihu Washington av nu garage across the street from the Klks club. Better and Better Dependable ten years ago, and five years ago, and more dependable than ever today, Dodge Brothers Motor Car simply represents the latest phase in a process of continual betterment The first cars Dodge Brothers built established a world-wide reputation. The cars they are building today in corporate the accumulated refine ments of those ten intervening years. That important improvements in the comfort and appearance of the car are made from time to time, implies no basic departure from Dodge Brothers traditional policy of progressive rather than seasonal development. Kdlson, the first com plete set of Johansson gages manu factured In Ihe Lulled Wales. I ne set consists of eighty-one blocks and these delicate lilt pieces of steel nro accurate within fuur mil lionth or an men. Tin-y are con tained In a new developed llakelite case. For many years Johansson gages have been accepted ns standard for measurements throughout the world, and until recently they were manufactured exclusively in .Swed en, the native land of the Invent or. Carl H. Johansson. In order lo take care of the Cnlted States needs, the Johansson company ncquired a plant at I'oughkecpslc, N. Y.. but before manufacture of blocks began the 1'ord Motor company, in 11123. pur chuncd the plant together with the American manufacturing riglrts. .Mr. Johansson joined the l'onlor gunlzatlon us a member of the en gineering staff to further develop his precision instruments. And so It was in the new lab oratories or the Ford Motor com pally at llearborn that he recently completed the set Mr. Kurd has Just presented to Mr. Kdisou. Now tho SfMirc llntlcry Itadto has added something to motoring. A lot of car owners are using regular uutomobile. storage batteries for their radio sets in stead of the neater type usually used for home purposes. When iho radio battery needs charging they put It into the car for a day'K trip. And a number of owners find that Ihe radio battery offers its services as tin excellent "spare" when the car's battery gives out on a cobl morning. The radio bat tery Itsn't always discharged. Our Own Life, for the owner of a car Is just one darn thing after another. First the old crate runs out of gas and then that casing you thought was good, rrocs out on you. Hit even all this wouldn't be so bad if your friends didn't come along and chirp a lot of high sounding advice about what they'd do under the circumstances. If worst comes to worst afb r you have tink'-rcd with the heap for some time and bavi; cliHsed a little, ituiybe, you can always call up the cur foun dry for a.sHistancc. He is dif ferent in that he has a different motlvo for buying. Looking on tho motor car as a necessity instead of a luxury, he enters the market with tho same at titude he has in buying other eco nomic necessities, ills Idea is to select car that gives him tho most satisfactory service for every dol lar expended. In other words he seeks the best value. In days gone by, there was reck less sort of clement in buying. The prospect, saw In the street or In the showroom a type of car that ap pealed to his fancy und he bought, regardless of its economic or util- jily value. j Today the buyer is shrewd. Hc ; cause he knows more about cars, he asks sensible (ucstlons, makes n thorough study of the vehicle, launcher: a systematic survey ! among his friends. He takes the stand lhat here is a product that,, like his store fixtures or his office 'equipment or his factory machine, will enable him to hold his own against competition, lie treats it as a regular business and economic factor and he buys in tiie mnnner ! of the expert purchasing agent. Because he demands comfort, he must have a car that has ample room tud rides ensity. He must have a car which he can rely upon lo leMputid to any of his needs at any time. . ( I Kcmiomy of maintenance !s nec t ssary. The cost of running the car niui.t be low; it must require a mini mum of service at lent ion. Then, H must look well so as to re tted t-redit on Ihe owner, his fam ily, his business house. The reason for tho increasing Movies popularity of som cars Is the fact that these fuctoru have been kept utmost in mind. Wo have realized the importance of the motor car us a business and economic factor, und have bull l out curs accord ingly. The new buying trend is a heal thy sign- It means that nvlth more cars, more intelligence being ap plied to tho purchasing process,' tho manufacturer of tho product thnt continues to gtvo tho public the best motor cur value will con tinue to survive and prosper.
