GOSS Studebaker Sales and Service, is Is A Studebaker Year" flty M. M. M.) The popularity of sports clothew, in both women's and men's appar el, is undoubtedly due to the motor car, because of their practicality and smartness at the same time. The lady on u motor trip wears something that is simple yet fash ionable and something that will look nice at tlx: end of her jour ney. For this purpose a knitted one or two piece sports dress in excel lent, with a small close fitting hat to match and sensible pumps or oxfords, not loud In ent or color. j Home prefer a knicker suit or a box coal, of tweed, nnd a silk shirt although this Is not as popular at the present time as a one or two : piece dress of material that does not crush early. An accessory with thin outfit is one of the new top coats which are so popular at the present time. This costume Is con servative in both style and color and a scarf of contrasting bright color is extremely smart with it. .Sweaters and skirts, which tiro al ways good for sports wear, are ulso excellent for the motor trip. If plans are made to atop at a hotel for dinner a dress of printed crepe, or other material that does not crush, may be carried easily In i hat box', attached trunk or suitcase, witli shoes, hose and hat to match. Knitted silk underwear does not take up much room and is practi cal for sports wear. Hill's Depart ment store curries an excellent line of ladles sports wear. With the gentleman sport clothes are ulso best for tlio motor trip. The nor folk suits, w hlch N. K. West's have in slock, aro very good worn, with a plaid cap and either leather puttees or golf socks. Many men. however, prefer pi us-four knickers with a regular Knglish coat, u collar attached shirt, shoe.t on the new balloon last In a French tan or sunset calf, with a natural grain rubber sole. With this sut; the new snap brim sport hat or a cap of the .Seo(,ch fabric is good The shirts are of Knglish broad cloth. French madras und other materials. There are darker colors however and many of them tir'j striped or figured. The knickers are made of Cavclte cloth, light weight madras ami other suitable material in Grecian grays. London ; tans, London lavenders. Piping , Kock flannels and dovetones. The ; hats art; of Verdure pastels und grays ami the caps art; mostly ot the Lockenbar patterns, i French flannel shirts arc also I popular with the men for sports wear. These shirts arc of a sum mer weight material and are in all I I ho light colors. Tin; blazer shirt, of Shuermau cloth, in high colors, is also very good. Other accessories, such s belts and neck ties aro In bright colors, lied Is a good color for the tic which is made of closely Unit ma terial. Other colors are also-good but they are all bright. The belt is of the new striped sports lype. Coif sox to match or harmonize with the rest of the costume are best. Another accessory lor the motor trip is a slip-on V-neck sweat ei ; and gloves of buckskin, kangaroo.! Mexican goat or dog skin. BIG PRODUCTION FAILS TO MEET DEMAND FOR CARS The volume of the Hudson Motor company factory has now been In creased until at the present time lutio cars a duy art being turned out. according to figures received hen by K. 1. Ledbetter, Hudson and Kssex dealer. This daily production places the Hudson company at the head ol the industry In, the number of six cylinder cars turned out in it day Tho leadership of the Hudson com pany Is all tha more unusual be cause of the fact that the bulk of the production Is devoted to turn ing out closed cars. Hudson's policy of plat-lug lie coach .prices on both Hudson ami Ksst- curs ut actually below the open car cost lias caused n great increase In tho demand for Un closed models. The present production, enor mous ns It is, Hllll falls to meet the demand for the cars. The larger plants have nothing on ' the Perkins Motor company when it comes to assembling cars. A special assembly job was turned out this week for the . C. I'ratt Lumber company which presented some unusual wrinkles in assembly work. The chassis of the truck, a one ton Ford, was lengthened 30 Inches to handle the longer lengths of lumber without requiring tleing dow n. . In order to extend the chassis to Ihis length two pieces of channel steel were riveted about the mid dle of the frame. The drive shart was thus too short and a special transmission was put In to take care of the excess space. The trans mission is in itself very unusual for the reason that It gives the car four speeds ahead nnd two lo the reu r. The framework when completed was really stronger than the orig inal construction and customers of the I'ratt Lumber company will hereafter have their lumber deliv ered on the new truck. 1 takers struck in New York, 10, 000 of them.
