Where the Mexican boll weevil costs us two hundred million
dollars a year, the human boll weevil, most conservatively esti
1 mated, costs American industry a billion dollars a year. v
The Mexican boll weevil bores into the tender cotton plant
and lays an egg that hatches a grub that kills the plant.

grubs that destroy honesty, faith, loyalty, patriotism and in-,

It gnaws at the vitals of those institutions that have helped
you and me and every other worker in America to our place in'

Keeping Up A neighborhood '
- Theoretically a man who owns property oiiKht to have the

the man who does just as he wishes with his own property may
crcuto serious damage to his neighbors. For instance, it' a man
who owns a home in a pretty residence nei,hhoihood should put
up an ujfly chicken coop in a conspicuous position, the neighbor
hood is to some extent daniajrod. Ileal estate promoters often
establish restrictions on the use of land which those purchnsinir
consent to for the benefit of the neighborhood.
Sonic people may object to certain restrictions, on the ground
that they interfere too far with private rights. Vet these eon
ditions may make the land more attractive to others because (hey
seem to make the property more secure against deterioration. T In

been sold without such conditions. An unrestricted neighbor
hood must rely on the good sense of its residents lo keep their
property in good shape.
