What hanoens to the people in England who do nrft ' pay their income tux, has been told I by an official of tho Inland Reve nue, who declares there are about l.fiOU such delinquents now in jail, ' compared with l.ldj two years ago. i Plenty rf time is given by the au- j thorities for payment, said this offi- j cial, and in cases wheiv it can be j 'S"Sv,ti that funds uie nut available, t easy methods r.re devised. In other j cases, alter a certain interval, a no tice is sent to the defaulter that the tax mufd. he remitted hy a cerain date usually ten days time. If that is disregarded a nxre urgent notice is sent, and thre days grace given. After that a distress warrant against the defaulter's goods is obtained. ThoFc who are imprisoned for de fault are generally, single, or have no seizable property of their own. JOCKEYS PAID LESS ' BERLIX, May IS. Fashion Notes the aprons tying behind with rib bons. - - . . . - . Trimming on Right Side Only. Paris. Trimming today is fre quently posed on the right side of tho hat. Sometimes it is an airy pompon ra huge cord thrusting high above the crown- Sometimes it is long, uncurled feather falling down over the shoulder. , Soft Kid on Frocks. Pris Very soft kid is being used today as a trimming on f rocks of cinpe de chine. Tho kid comes in delightfully striking shades. One bliirk crepe de chine had collar and pockets of gold kid. The leather is usually stamped with an intricate de sign. Still More llnndanna New York- A clever thought in sport clothes today makes an even more than ever extended use of the bandanna. Not only is there a ban danna around the shoulders but alsc. one hanging in long ends about the waist. Moreover, the closely fitting HttlQ sports hat is covered with a bandanna, all three handkerchiefs matching. Short, Stubby Parasols. London. Parasols today are ex ceedingly short and stubby, just eaping ugliness because the squat ferules and handles are so prettily decorated. Egyptian and Oriental designs in colors are painted or enam eled on both handle and ferule and the silk is resplendent with Luxor figures. St'ries of Aprons us Drapes London. A series of little aprons in organdie is a favorite hit of drap ing tcdav for afternoon f rocks of crepe or printed silk. There may be as many as three aprons in organdie of white or a contrasting shade, all j r- r Effective Interpretation. New Yoik. The tendency to have the evening cloak match the gown was effectively interpreted in a cos tume shown here today in gold and black- The evening gown was of gold and black brocade, the back ground being black. The cloak, an the other hand, was in grid and black with the background in gold. It is well to remember that every sound belief the race now has was at one time called heresy.
