' TEAM FETED Owen Price Is Elected Cap tain for Ensuing Season; Nine Letters Awarded. Final curtains worn last night low ered on the 1022-23 La Grande high sc'hool basketball season. Gathering n me country club, the nine letter men, accompanied by their lady friends, and officials of the t''am and members of the high school faculty, seated at a delicious banquet, offi cially ushered out all but memories with the awarding of letters to the nicmbors, and the election of next season's captain. Owen Price, who made his basket ball letter- for the first time this season, one of the youngest members of the squad, was honored Jay being elected captain. Price, though his first year at, the court game, .stead ily improved throughout the season, playing possibly one of his best games in the final linker-La Grande contest. Next year he should be a veritable -whirlwind iiv the court.. Letters Awarded. Letters were awarded to nine mem bers of the squad ,as follows: Cap tain Glenn Metcalf, center; Bernard Jiummelt, Owen -Price, Ry Lynch, u.-wurus; James Coker, Clifford nioklanil. Floyd Smith. Joe Funk and Robert Garrity, . guards. Joe "Skeet" Reynolds presided as toastmaster at the banquet, and, in addition to the team, Cecil Snow, coach, E. D, Towler, principal of the high school, and A. C. Hampton, su perintendent of the La Grande schools, were present.- A. V. Lind gi'en, assistant coach, was unable to bo present due to illness. Jolly Dance. Following the termination of the banquet, the basketball IxiyK and a number of guests spent the remain der of. the evening until tlho hour Of inidnigh6 dancing. Music was fur nished by an orchestra composed of Abbie Green, piano, Andrew Loney, Jr., cornet and Kenneth trekeler, sax ophone. All who attended were en thusiastically of the opinion that Ihv. dunce was one of the most enjoyable affairs of the season.
