' It would seem. so from actual ob servations mude by the Raltimore & Ohio railroad. For more than two years this railroad has been placing men at crossings where there are usually a large number of machine, crossing und tuke down the license numbers ot those whose drivers fail to take any precaution to assure them selves that it is safe to pass over tho tracks. This safety precaution con sists of the driver's slowing down or stopping,-und then looking and listen ing. When a driver dashes over with out taking any of these precautions, his license number is quoted and a curd telling him of his negligence is sent him, with request to guard his lite und property the next time he goes over a railroad track. In the year 1U20 the Bultimore it- Ohio observers took note of 111)8,00(1 vehicles in thP states .through which it operates, in that year, a.-'ordin, to the records of these obrervers there were 25,tl!)0 drivers who failed to lake any precautions at bigb vav crossings.
