intervene, would be disposed to take
any othei attitude than that set forth
in reply to the former Bolivian re-,
quest for participation sent to himl
soon after the conference was called
in January. On that occasion he ar
gued that the question of Bolivia's ad
mission must be decided by Chile and
Peru.

vian notes to the Bolivian legation
followed a 20-minute. joint meeting
of the two delegations. No communi
que was issued after the conclusion
and it was indicated that no question
of importance was consic ered pending
disposition, of the Bolivian request.
There also were indications that di
rect conversations between the two
delegations again were 'waiting on
definite Instructions from the home
governments.
