Wcllmian, formerly of this city and who is well known in all parts of the country, returned to her home in Palo Alto, Calif., this morning, after a four weeks! visit in Iji Grande with friends und rel atives. Wilsons on Eastern Trip Mr. aitl Mrs. Thomas Wilson have gone to Nebraska to visit friends and to enjoy a well-canned rest. Mr. Wil son is one of the blacksmith force at the O.-W. shops here. Camping on Mi nam River Perry Oliver, of this city, Miss An na Alexander, of Spokane but a former resident of I .a Grande, and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Oliver, of Keating, Baker county, compose n party which is camping in the vicinity of the Minent river and the West Eagle lakes. They expect to spend the next ten days in fishing and enjoying camp life. The party left from Baker Monday morn ing. Car Skids on Loose Gravel While going east on the Oregon Trail near Icadman Pass, an Ovcr- DANCE Old Time Dance Thursday Modern Dances Saturday REX HALL N. A. Disclet, Manager land car bearing the license 52,239 skidded in the loosc gravel recently placed on the road, and plunged over the grade. As. far as is known no or.e was injured. The car, which is listed as owned by the Security Construction company of La Grande, skidded while passing another ear and turned over on its side. Pendleton Tribune. Go to Starkey Prairie Chester Johns and Dr. J. A. Best motored to Starkey Prairie, which is near La Grande, on Sunduy, and re port that the worst roads were be tween Meacham and llilgatrd, where they are awfully poor. The next worst stretch, according to. Dr. Be, is South Franklin s'uei't in Pendleton. Aside from those two places the roads are good, ho says. Pendleton Tribune.
