Perry Oliver, of this city, Miss An

river and the West Eagle lakes. They
expect to spend the next ten days in

motored to Starkey Prairie, which is
near La Grande, on Sunduy, and re
port that the worst roads were be
tween Meacham and llilgatrd, where
they are awfully poor. The next
worst stretch, according to. Dr. Be,
is South Franklin s'uei't in Pendleton.
Aside from those two places the
roads are good, ho says. Pendleton

Lake Michigan for a couple of hours
ride in two of the largest boats they

icipal pier, Chicago's largest amuse
nient resort, whero they were per
mitted to participate in uny of the at

to any of the attractions. Tho next
day trains were chartered and we
were all taken to the largest naval
ti-ainiug station in the world, twenty
miles out of Chicago on the lake shore,
where 2,000 sailors and marines were
drilled before us. Two of Chicago's
best bull teams played a game of base
ball for us und many other stunts,
such as wrestling, jumping, boxing,
and also box lunch wns served to ov

all served free to the delegates, so
that our trip was made a very pleasant
one all along the way. However, 1
am glad to get 'back to good old
(irunde Itonde valley, where one can
git a breath of air, and 4ic able to
sleep after lying tlown after a hard
day's work, 'and got away from the
terrible noiso and turmoil of n large
city," concluded Mr, Hlaek.
