Ihm boring process can not be depended upon to bring the cylinder to exact size, con sequently there Was been developed Ireamera of very high clatta design in jan effort to overcome thia difficulty. Marhine ! "nt they fail of their purpose, for, jas all mechanics of experience know, . a reamer will follow a hole, and can, (in no sense of the word, be depended lonon to accurately atruiirhten a hole j which has been bored out. "The action of the reamer is to take its heaviest cut where the resistance. 'due to ribbing or construction of the block, is greatest, and to crowd the 'cylinder wall at the hard spots. I Where the hard spots occur there will I be a projection into the cylinder bore, 'and where the greatest resistance to jibe cut occurs there will be a hol Ilow spot. Therefore neither pistons I... ..;.. ., i. a ,.lv fiti..,l ... .. w Boring and Uroaching.
