Made Long Tiiii Bird Lewis, a retired commercial yrinteir of La Grande, is a Portland visitor today. Mr. Lewis has devoted much of his time the past few years to engnieering an automobile over ' the country and says th-at life on ihe load is the only life for him. Last year, acconupanled by Mrs Lewis, he d' ove to NfW York nnd return. Thii season he covered many of the north western states and is now contem plating a trip into Mexico. He is not very complimentary regarding tho road through the Blue mountain? and the Eastern Oregon wheat belt but says he was able to make the trip In 21 hours running time,.
