The market literally has been drained by the first wave of the constantly
increasing tide of prosperity which is now sweeping over the country. The
i-itiiation, already acute in many cities, is bound to grow worse this spring.
Owing to the relatively siniill production the last two years there is a short
age of 700,1)00 automobiles in the I'liitcd States at the present time, according
to government figures.
In 1!)1S, the total product i if - n i r was l,0!l.7"il as against 1,7;7,lol the

tion was the smallest since 1!M.".
Normally, the output increases at the rale of 10 per cent a ftir. Had this
