Naon, the Argentine ambassador, and an ardent exponent of pan-Americanism, acted as the strenuous go between and adviser when Secretary Lansing published Count Luxburg's notorious diplomatic correspondence. Since the Luxburg duplicity was ex posed, the Argentine republic has been going through one of the greatest crisis in its history. The strong pro ally party there has been balked from entering the war, on account of Pres ident Irigoyen s rigid neutrality. Ambnssadom Noan his friends call him Dr. Naon has suddenly been placed in a position of even greater importance than his president. He is his nation's principal ndvis&r since Washington ia the world's war capital, Immense business of the Argentine icpublic the South-American coun terpart of the United States is transacted nt 180G Corcoran street, in a cream colored brick structure mag nificently furnished. (Special.) -The Italian government has promulgated a decree prohibiting the making and oalo of cake, pastry and confection ery under whatever shape or form. o The Income Tax ;.lan Uaja num ber of people to whom I have tallied appear to be of the impression that they are excused from making an in come tax return if the exemption to which they are entitled, including the juu lor eacn dependent child, exceeds their net income. A married man ia exempt from making a return only when his net income (including that of his wife and minor children) is un der $2,000. For example: A married man with two dependent children would have a personal exemption of $2,400; but if ho had a net income of only $2,100, he would still have to file a return, though he would pay no tax. A married man must file a re turn if his net income equals or ex ceeds $2,000, regardless of his per sonal exemption. If in doubt, ask the Income Tax Man on Elm tstreet, br.cl; of the I-a Grande National bank. Your Choice LADIES' AND MISSES' SUITS 1-2 Price Your Pick of Any Coat at a Reduction of 33 ! Three men cadi-took a hundred Thrift cards, pasted one stamp in ea.-h card, and sold the entire lot before two blocks had been covered. "Two bits" is the old term, dating back to the early ays of the country, for a quarter of a dollar, and is still used in the South and West. Every patriotic American now wauls "to do his bit"; the members of these clubs are cariTing out this idea finely in doing their "two bits" every day.
