and an ardent exponent of pan-Americanism,
acted as the strenuous go
between and adviser when Secretary
Lansing published Count Luxburg's
notorious diplomatic correspondence.
Since the Luxburg duplicity was ex
posed, the Argentine republic has
been going through one of the greatest
crisis in its history. The strong pro

Italian government has promulgated
a decree prohibiting the making and
oalo of cake, pastry and confection
ery under whatever shape or form.

In Phoenix, Arizona, a movement has been, inaugur
ated J'or the formation of "Two Pits a Day" clubs, the
members of which are to buy a quarter's worth of Thrift
Stamps every day. Three men cadi-took a hundred Thrift
cards, pasted one stamp in ea.-h card, and sold the entire
lot before two blocks had been covered.
"Two bits" is the old term, dating back to the early
ays of the country, for a quarter of a dollar, and is still
used in the South and West. Every patriotic American
now wauls "to do his bit"; the members of these clubs
are cariTing out this idea finely in doing their "two bits"
every day. It is hoped that "Two Hits a Day" clubs will, of th city of i,a Grande and

campaign.
