The Japanese diplomatic war .mis sion headed by Viscount Kikujirc Ishil arrived here yesterday from Japan on route to Washington where a study of American war conditions will be made. A party of distinguished men, in cluding Breckinridge Long, third as sistant secretary of State, welcomed the mission at the pier. . Escorted by a squadron of calvary and were escorted to their hotel to pre pare for the series of entertainments, receptions and banquets which will mark their visit here. The first formal affair was a public reception at the city hall in which the mayor and the governor of the state participated. Last night gave a banquet for the visitors and today they will be taken on an automobile trip to points of inter est near here. . Five of tho city's lead ing citizens will sit down to an leborate banquet in honor of the mis sion tonight at which the govern or, mayor and Viscount Ishii, will speak. The plans thereafter are indefinite. No announcement regard ing the mission's future movements' will be made. The visit of the mission to this country is regarded as one of the most important diplomatic events in many years.
