In the June Wom an's Hone Companion, Dr. Roger IT. Dennett, while making no prediction s to what we may expect in the way of an epidemic, speaks a word of hope to those whose children have suffered from the disease. "So long as any improvement what ever is taking place in the child's con dition, we may feel encouraged, and, continue any necessary treatment with unabated enthusiasm, for, evpn after six months or a year, improve ment in the muscles continues to take place. "On the other hand, when no im provement whatever has taken place, for instance when the limb is abso lutely paralyzed, we would be inclined, after six months of faithful treat ment, to give, up the battle so far ns anything in the way of an absolute cure is concerned. There is one hope ful outlook, however, and that is that when once the damage is done, when once the acute stage of the disease has subsided, it is perfectly certain that no further paralysis of the mus cles will take place."
