They should also be clean, but not washed, as washing makes them por ous, allowing the solution to enter. The most successful and cheapest meth od of preserving 1b In water glass (so dium silicate). One gallon of sodium silicate, about 50 cents' worth, will, when added to fifteen Umcs as much water, which has been boiled aud cool ed, be enough to preserve fifty dozen eggs. The solution should bo prepared and put in the vessels in a cool place, then the oggs added as they are gath ered. There should be at least two Inches of solution covering the eggs.
