WAR AGAINST GROUND SQUIR RELS WELL UNDER WAY County Agent Spillman and Biolo gist R. A. Ward of the U. S. Biologi cal Survey returned this morning from North Powder where the last or the series of Ground Squirrels meetings was held last night. Since inaugurating this work on April 4 the following localities have organized for combatting grouna squirrels along the lines indicated ty the representative of the Biological Survey: Blue Mountain Grange, Iowa Devel opment club, B. F. Durland, president; Mt. Glenn Improvement club, Ray mond McKeninon, president; Willow Creek Community club, J. McKinnis, president; Telocaset Improvement club, Ed Wolf, president; Clover Creek Improvement club, H. LaugJi lin, president; Wplf Creek Improve ment club, Homer Cams, president. Besides these clubs, Catherine areek and Union have arranged to se cure their poisoned grain by co-op erating with the Eastern Oregon Ex periment station. Material sufficient to prepare 4500 quarts of poisoned grain have been or dered and in some localities work is already under way. By following the plan of the Biological Survey a sav ing of about 60 per cent in purchasing and preparing materials is effected. Tho method used is that which has been used by the U. S. Biological Sur vey in exterminating ground squirrels on 984,000 acres of National Forest land 3. If the poison is used in accordance with the directions of the Biological Survey, no harm to game birds will Suppose That, Instead of Losing It, You Had Found It?
