Here is Mabel Taliaferro in one of

The part is wonderfully suited to her.
'She is a (poor Irish lassie, whose
father, before his death in the "Old
Country," urges her to go to Ameri-
jca and look up Norton Burbeck, a
wealthy young club-mun, who is un
der obligations to him.
Charming little "Jerry" McNuirn,
left alone in the world, packs up her
scant belongings and goes. Burbeck
welcomes her and calls her "the
guardian of his comfort." She be
comes a part of his life. Burbeck be
lieves himself to be in love with a
beautiful, conscienceless woman who
is scheming to feet his money.
"Jerry" learns of the plot. How
she foils it and becomes Burbeck's
"wife by proxy" is the greatest part
of the play. This is a production that
makes a deep appeal. It is clean,
wholesome, full of a love element of
the right sort.
