ARC A DE "OLIVER TWIST" Lanky Production of Dickens Story .Marked by Splendid Characteriza tion and Staging Reviewed by Goo. Blaisdell in 'Moving Picture World Lasky's production of "Oliver Twist" that will be shown at the Ai- cade theater today and tomorrow an unusual picture. 'Its making has been accomplisncd with a care, a fi delity,, in keeping with the fame ot the Dickens masterpiece. As Oliver, the pathetic figure of childhood, there is Marie Doro. Even more, in the role of Bill Sikes- there is Hobart Bos- worth; in that of Fagin there is Tully ftfliirshall. The picture well mignt have been built around either of theja two men. Tho characterization of either of these was a show of and by itself. And there were a halfdozen others selected with fine regard fnv their powers of convincing portrayal of the quaint Dickens types some lovable, some brutal. Here we see the Artful Dodger, Mr. Brownlow, Nancy Sikes, Mr. Bumble and Monks in the garb and in the surroundings in which we have visualized them. Miss Doro in her impersonation of I tho name role deserves high praise for her portrayal of the boy Oliver. She j imbues him with the spirit of the j book, us well as that need bo expected of Olio playing a role of opposite sex. Come now to Mr. Bosworth's Bill ' e:i. Ttni.a ic n fiffnvo fo coniure with. Big, brutal, submerging self in the part of the worst of the denizens of London's unspeakr.blo slums of the early 19th century, he goes his way through life. He shows us a man without a redeeming trait, unless it be the fact that he docs not abuse his dog. His ending is as dramatic as nis life has been low. One ot the incidents of tho story comes when Bill, with a rone around his body, starts to slide over the edge of the roof to his acci- dental death in midair, the rope caught about his neck. Quick as a flash the dog starts to follow him, sliding rapidly from the ridgepole to the edge and stopping short at the gutter. And Tully Marshall's Fagin. The player quickens into life the thiev ing old miser, whose fiction name hasj been applied to all preceptors of young crooks for nearly a hundred years and in all likelihood XV' ill serve for all time. His performance furs nishes a rare treat. Raymond Hatton is the Artful Dodger, James Neill is Mr. Brownlow, Elsie Jane Wilson is Nancy, Harry P-tittenbury is Mr. Bumble, and Carl Stockdale is Monks. All of these finely supplement the AT ARCADE THEATER TODAY AND TOMORROW The High Cost Living SITUATION IS GETTING SERIOUS WE ALL ADMIT AVE ADVISE OUR CUSTOMERS TO BUY GRO CERIES IN DOZEN AND CASE LOTS. When You Have a Cold. -It is when you have a severe cold that you appreciate the good qualities of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy. Mrs. Frank Crocker, Pana, 111., -writes: "Our five-year-old son Paul caught a severe cold last winter that settled oa his lungs and he had terrible cough ing spells. We were greatly worried about him as the medicine we gave him did not help him in the least. A neighbor spoke so highly of Chamber lain's Cough Remedy that 1 got a bot tle of it. The first dose benefitted him so much that I continued giving it to him until he was cured." W. M. Kennada, machinist handy man in the local O-W. R. & N. com pany, has been mentioned by the Safety First commission of the rail road for offering five Safety First suggestions last year. A Hint to the Aged. If people past sixty years of acre could be persuaded to go to bedas soon as they take cold and remain in bed for one or two days, thev would recover much more quickly, especially if they take Chamberlain's Conirii Remedy. There would also be less danger of the cold being followed by any of the more serious diseases.
