C. Penney Company FORMERLY UNITED STORE Johnson and O'Neil Are Clever Wrestlers O'Neil Was Once Frank Gotch's Trainer and Has Wrestled Celebrities Johnson Is Heavyweight Pacific Coast Champsion. Some people wondered why John son, "The Terrible Swede," had such a hard tussle with Jack O'Neil in their handicap match at the Arcade theater Thursday night. It is easily explained when one is familiar with the record of O'Neil. Jack has wrestled some of the best men in the United States. Following are some of themain events in which he has participated: Dan McLeod at New York to a, draw, time 2 hours, 6 minutes; D. A. McMillan at Minneap olis, O'Neil won in 1 hour, 34 minutes; Jack Rooney, O'Neil won in 38 min utes; John Jenkins at Cleveland, O'Neil won in 2 hours, 3 minutes; Farmer Burns, world's champion at Spokane, O'Neil lost in 1 hour, 21 minutes. So Johnson in meeting O'Neil was up against a man who could hold any man at bay for 15 min utes. 'In addition to his long service on the mat O'Neil was trainer for Frank Gotch and learned all the fine points from the undeicatcd Iowam. So when the men meet in a finished "bout at the Arcade theater tomorrow night it will be absolutely one of the best matches ever staged in La Grande. Following is a clipping from the Oregon City Recorder when John son defeated Bordscn for the coast championship: "I. A. Johnson of St. Paul, Minne sota, holder of hcr-vyweight wrestling title, added the heavyweight coast championship to his honors here Mon day night by defeating Ben Bordsen at the Grande theater lcfore a crowd of 1000 fans. Johnson secured the first fall in five minutes by the ham mcrlock route and the second in less time. Both men put up a good f ifiht and gave the crowd a first class ex hibition. BordseM challenges Johnson for a return match. Bordsen won the title n year ago by defeating Davis- court.'' Seats are selling f;st for the match and as there are only a limited amount of ringside se itr., those wishing them are requested to get them earlv. They can be secured at the ticket office from 2 to 4 in the afternon and 7 to 10 in the evenin;rs, starting today. Sunday afternoon at the Y. M. C. A. Rev. Frederick Grimes, the evangelist ' at the Christian church, will deliver , the address at the meeting for me7i, : the meeting will e held in the lobby j at .1 o'clock and all men are cordially i invited to attend. There will be spe cial music. Money To Loan "Money to loan farm land, Iiowest rates of Interest, Prompt service, Loan our own money and do not sell our mortgages or notes."
