Finley's lecture on Oregon birds pnd animals. Mr. Fhiley didn't talk about dogs or horses but he talked about nature's folk and, to me, this brought home again my wish for u dog and a horse. When I saw the insect-outing, little, wild, feathered people eat from the hands of Mr. Finley's boy and girl, the pleasure that I u never enjoyed was made keen through realization. Birds never lighted on my shoulders, head or hands or ale from my hands. I neve,- gave them a chance. They would have had I so desired. I hsve had the pleasure of knowing some people who have loved and lived the cut-of-doors. In spring these peo ple know the plant and animal forms. I have enjoyed afternoons with them; afternoons when I was silent for I knew not the language of the strange land into which I had been taken, let ey were glorious afternoons. Call me emotional if you will and I will be happy to always be emotional. "Life" is the most abundant thing in the world and yet we know so little about it. We live and care not why, nor how, nor whither. There are none so blind as those who will not see. Everywhere around us is life.
