Mrs. Fred Fox returned to Union
Sunday after a few day's visit with
Mrs. Fox' parents, Mr. and Mrs. A.
F. Wilson.
Misos HuKla and Olga Johnson
were La Grande visitors Saturday.
Ray Norvall started Sunday even
ing for Portland where ho will re
main two or three months. Mrs.
Norvall accompanied her husband on
the trip, which he is making in the
hope of bettering the condition of his
health.
Mrs. S. L. Brooks started Sunday
for California and intends remaining
in a warmer climate until spring.
John Lloyd was a passenger to
Baker Sunday evening.
Traffic on the Joseph branch of the
O.-W. railroad muBt be on the in
crease, judging from the additional
trains passing through Imbler.
Harry Waddell is having a garage
built.
Word was received from Mrs. Ella
Keown, who went to Walla Walla
last week on account of the critical
condition of her father, Lot Fillmore,
that although there was an improve
ment after her arrival, the aged man
was losing strength again and but lit
tle hope was held for his recovery.
Lyle and Lynn Stringham are
sponsors for a dunce in the Amuse-
J ment hall Friday night.
j Principal Christcnson, of the Alicel
school was in Imbler Wednesday.
Apple packing will probably last
through December and part of January.

in La Grande last night, leaving this
moniing for Pendleton for ashoit
business visit.
Pneumonia Claims Girl.
Friends of the bereaved family in
La Grande have been advised of the
death of Blanch, the 10-year old
daughter of James Hamilton. The de
mise occurred in Portland where the
family now lives. Mr. Hamilton was
for several years an engineer at the
Palmer mill.

STAKE CONFERENCE AT HAND

Tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock
die first session of the regular quar
terly conference of the Union Stake
of the L. D. S. church will convene in
the tabernacle. Representatives of
all the branches of the church in this
district are expected to be present.
The regular organized wards which
are comprised in the Union stake nra
Baker, Cove, Imbler, Mt. Glen, La
Grande, Pino Grovo and Union.
Following tho usual custom the
general authorities at Salt Lake will
send out two representatives from
that city to be in attendance. Tho
conference will be especially favored
