La Grande Sunday.
Fred Smith made a business trip to
La Grande Friday.
Dr. C. A. Ault went on a business
trip to La Grande Monday.
S. J. Marshall, of Alder Slope, made
a business trip to Joseph Saturday.
Shelly Jones went to La Grande last
Thursday, returning two days later.

man Weeks, a dairy and fruit man
living south of lmbler has rented Mj
.ranch to Wulter Westfall for the en
suing year and will move into town
where he can more profitably care foe
his life insurance work. Mr. Westfall
pays cash rent and also bought tho
livestock, implements, hay, etc., anc.
will take possession in January. For
sixteen years he has been behind the
counter, having had charge of the lo
cal Co-operative store during the past
three years, and says he believes a
year or two of outdoor life will put
his health in better condition and that
he will enjoy the change of occupa
tion. Mr. Weeks will probably wish
to resume his former work in a year
or two, as he is making tho change
now owing to his health. The Co
operative stock is being closed out
and the Christmas shopping will about
empty the shelves, aocording to Mr.
Westfall's estimate.
Friday evening a large and well
pleased audience enjoyed another hour
with the National Stock company, wh
presented Mrs. Southworth s "Ish
mael" this trip. Increased audiences
indicate that play-goers m this vicin
ity are pleased with the dramatic
work of this troupe.

quent the Stringham slough east o."

Wallowa, Nov. 28. (Special) The

Mrs. L. M. Marks and son who

Wallowa visitor this week and mnde

John Bloom and family of Modoc
county California, arrived Tuesday
and intend locating in this part of the
county. Mr. Bloom says that Wal
lowa looks good i to him. iNo sage
brush, but plenty of good old bunch
grass is what looks good to him. M'
Bloom is a veterinary surgeon and
may open up an oflice in the city later.
