Marie Doro, one of the most cele brated dramatic artists on stage or screen, and formerly a Frohman star, will be seen at the Arcade today and tomorrow, in the Jesse L. Lasky pro duction of "Common Ground," a thrilling drama of social conditions written especially for the Paramount j program by Marian Fairfax, and Dro- . duced under the personal direction of William U. DeMiile. "Common Ground" shows the men tal and spiritual awakening through love, of a child of the slums, employed in an artificial flower factory. How she meets, falls in love with, and eventually save from ruin, at the hands of political grafters, a young judge, is the basis of this most unus ual play. The methods of the army of parasites connected with the city in stitution, and their dealings with the unfortunates of the underworld, are vividly exposed. How there grafters, to further their own ends, manufacture false condi tions to harm their enemies, is brought out through a series of most unusual scenes. The Lasky company has surrounded Miss Doro with a cast of unusual ex cellence, consisting of such disting uished artists as Thomas Meighan, as the young judge, Theodore Roberts, Mary Mersch. Horaca B. Carpenter ar.d Vera McEvers, and a number of other members of the Lasky all-star organization. The picture has the usual Lasky thoroughness of detail and splendid photography.
