Your.g (rtjrdon, deeply in debt, wires his father for money, but Gor don, Sr., replies that his investments have failed and he is practically p ri mless and orders young Cordon to leave college immediately. One evening after work. Olpan and one of the house maids visit Madam Batavia, the fortune teller, ami Olga is informeil that he is soon to become wealthy. Shortly after that Olga's rich uncle. Sven Johnson, locates his niece and upon his deathbed leaves her his fortune, with the condition that she be married before her next birthday. Young Gordon in an at tempt to obtain some money, loses all that he has in gambling. Olga, learn ing of this, offers to give him the money if he will marry her, and know ing the difference in their positions, agrees that he can leave her at once. Hard pushed, Gordon does this, pays his debts and returns home. The fortune teller learns that Olga has received her fortune and agrees to make a lady out of her. The for tune teller's son, Hardy, wiho fleeced young Gordon, also attempts to get some of Olga's money. For fear of a raid, Madam Batavia flees the town and establishes Olga in a western city, which chances to be the one in which young Gordon lives. At a dance Olga and Gordon meet again and Gordon recognizes Hardy as the crook. Seeing the maid of all work in her new life, Gordon falls in love with his wife. Hardy makes un welcome advances to Olga and he and he mother plan to force her to marry Hardy, thinking she is a widow. Gor don tells Olga he will soon be able to pay her back and free her from the marriage. Olga's lawyer tells Gordon that she is in the hands of a band of ; crook:; and Gordon goes to her home. I Manly gets a tip that the police are1 about to arrest him and in order to take Olga with them in their flight,' they plan to drug her and take her by force just as Gordon breaks into the I room ami he and Hardy have a des-1 peratf light. Owner of Building Cancels Lease and Tom Lee Is Out. Quick work on the part of District Attorney Colon R. Eberhard has re sulted in the abatement of one of the places alleged for some time to have been 3 nuisance, and which has caused the local notice force a ereat deal of trouble. Immediately after the recent arrest of Tom Lee, a Chinese, on a charge of running a disorderly house in a restaurant on Adams avenue and the foiefeiture of his bail, the district attorney filed in circuit court a com plaint under the state nuisance act, popularly known as the West abate ment statute, against the Chinaman and the owner of the place. On Monday of this week, the owner filed in the circuit court a statement that the lease of the Chinaman had been cancelled and that no further Chinese tenants would be allowed in the restaurant, thus accomplishing everything that the abatement act calls for, except the payment of costs through the sale of the goods found in the premises. Inasmuch as creditors had taken possession of the property of Tom Lee, and inasmuch as there were no actual costs, by reason of all officers acting in the case being upon a salary, there was nothing to be ac complished by 'continuing the pro ceedings and accordingly they were dismissed. Denver, Colo., Aug. 11. Whether to disband or to name a third state ticket was to be decided at the state assembly of the Progressive party opening here today. The Progressive state central committee is on record as opposed to an outright endorse ment of Charles E. Hughes for presi dent. The committee adopted a sub stitute motion leaving Bullmoosers free to act independently nationally. It was not expected that today's con vetion would overthrow this action. The' call for the assembly showed a possible total of 455 delegates based on the Progressive party's vote in Colorado at the last state election but the attendance today was consider ably under the maximum number. Many former Progressives have re joined the Republican party. Clar ence P. Dodge of Colorado Springs has been mentioned for the Progres sive nomination for governor but it was not certain a state ticket would be named today. Looking For A Chance To Save a $ And Then Some?
