If the Famous Players-Paramount start had not escaped from tine hands of her modiste and donned men's clothes she never could have had that lrink without ruining a frock. Tho accompanying photograph gives an idea of uhe costume which this great emotional actress wears in ""The World's Great Snare," a Para mount Picture which was adapted from the novel by E. Phillips Op penheim and produced by the Famous Players. 'Ik comes to In Grande in the nosr future. Tho invasion of America has been begun in earnest. The lirst big; gun fired was a long-range British weapon which has proven very effective. Peggy Hyland, the celebrated British stage and screen favorite, makes her American screen debut under the nuspices of the Famous Players on the Puramount Program in an adap tation of Henry. Arthur Jones' cele brated play "Saints and Sinners." Appearances are deceiving' in this instance. Of course Blanche Sweet hasn't just stepped out of the harem of a screen sultan, though she is wear ing quaint pantalettes of creamy sha dow lace over satin. She probably got the inspiration from her grand mother. At any rate the camera-man caught he: off-stage in a moment when she was indulging her prefer ence for pretty clothes. The I.asky Puramount star appears emerging from a cloud of white tulle. Her tiny cap sleeves are caught over the should ers with stiands of pearls. Of all the beautiful girls in mo tion pictures Myrtle Stedman has been selected by Pallas Pictures to por tray the title role in "The American Beauty", now being pi'Kluced for the Paramount Program. That Pallas Pic tures have chosen wisely is evidenced by one glance at the above picture, which in itself, however, does not do Miss Stedman full justice in that it only portrays her beauty. The talent of this popular screen star can oniy be appreciated by the many thous ands who have seen her in such pro ductions ns "The Wild Olive," "Peer Gynt," "The Reform Candidate," and other photoplays of equal prominence. In "The American Hcauty" our pietty blonde' heroine is given the pro:. test opportunity of her career as an act ress. In this film she portrays the pares of mother and daughter in the same scene by means of what is con ceded to be the most remarkania "double exposure" work ever present ed on the screen. In one scene she actually embraces and kisses herself. For these characters Miss Stedman . BLANCHE SWEET, L ASK Y-PAR AMOUNT STAR, I"",1'."'1'-'" jt'V 1 '! "For years," said Miss Ward, "1 (had been in the habit of plavmg a Rea son or three or tour months in Now York and then six or seven months on tour putting up with all sorts of hardships which required at least two or three months of recreation in or der to recuperate for the following season. Although motion picture act ing is difficult and frequently de mands strenuous physicial efort, the life is in the open and I think is an ideal existence. Furthermore one only has to live in Southern Califor nia to be a thorough convert to its charms." Titan 10-20 $900 Cash f. o. b. Chicago THERE is hardly a farm with a hundred acres or more of tillable land but what has belt work enough to keep a 20-H. P. engine busy when not doing field work. This belt work alone will in most cases pay the entire yearly fuel bill of a Titan 10-20 tractor. Add to this the deep plowing, disking, harrowing, seeding, fallowing, harvesting and hauling the Titan will do during the year, at less than horse cost, and you will see at once what a gilt-edged investment this tractor is. Power, strength and economy as combined in the Titan 10-2C, mean everyday usefulness. It has power and strength to taka care of the everyday work of the farm. It is small enout h to run light machines with economy. It works suc cessfully on kerosene. It reduces the number of work horses needed. It saves so much in so many different ways, and does .so much, that it cannot help but pay for itself long before it is vorn out. - Be Hire to learn more about this Titan 10-20 the tractor that pays for itself, that furnishes power at kerosene cost (less 'han half the price of gasoline), and that is just the right size, weight, and style for farms of 10U acres or more. A film fan in a local house caused a riot by yelling out, "Good enough for you, you had it coming." A Slim Record Motion picture actor That new neading lady is rather thin, isn't she? Motion picture director Thin! Gosh, man, she could take a bath in a j fountain pen! Viola Dana worked for 36 hours at a stretch in filming "The Flower of No Man's Land" for Metro. It ramined for the silent drama to put the real noise in amusements. You wouldn't think it, but Virginia Pearson, who is known as the "Mod ern Cleonatra" in some sections is an expert cook. It's difficult to har monize this person, surrounded by ex pert publicists with a cloak of mystic ism, creams, cosmetics, etc., with any thing so plebeian as a kitchen. Billie Burke adores apples. In fact she enjoys fruit of any kind, but ap ples are her favorite and it is a com mon sight to behold her nibbling a rosy-cheeked apple.
