Dr. 'Moore went to Hot Lake Fri day evening to attend the "hop," Mrs. W. II. Iiyers, who is planning to leave soon for Portland on account of her daughter's health, was very pleasantly surprised by a few of her neighbors Friday evening. A light lunch was served and the evening spent 'in a social way. The Imbler. band boys are meeting twice a week preparing for the "4th.1' U. O. Walking will movo to Alicel this week and occupy tho residence vacated by Hershul McKinnis who is now temporarily located on a ranch southeast of Imbler. Mrs. Harry Waddell is on the sick who killed Police Sergeant J.-J. Mo riarty here last week, and was him self shot to death in a 80-minute bat tle with the Dolice. was identified yes terday as Vladimir Osokin, an an archist, who came here six weeks ago from Los Angeles to organize Kussian strikers at the Union Jron Works. PASSED FORGED CHECK. Young Man of 18 Is in Trouble ut Baker. Baker, June 5. Ed Johnson, an 18-yoar-old boy, was arrested yesterday morning by Chief of Police Jackson charged with attempting to jtusa a woilhless check on the Bowen DeNefTe clothing store. The check was for $18 and was drawn on the Citizens' National bank of this city in favor of John Miller and signed Frank Nelson. Johnson made some purchases at the store, tendering the check in pay ment, saying he had been working for Nelson on the letter's ranch near this city. Suspicions were aroused that the check was u forgery and Johnson, alias Miller, was held at the store while inquiry was made at the bank verifying the suspicion, as there was no account there in the name of Frank Nelson. Chief of Police Jackson wa-t summoned, but Johnson still stuck tc his story. I "All right," said the chief, "get in my car and take me to .Nojson and wfl will find out." Johnson then ad mitted "Nelson" was a myth and his arrest followed.
