Manager Frank Gardinier of the 'Baker White Pine Lumber company yesterday reported the purchase by .his company from the Wallowa Timber company of approx imately 20,000 acres of timber land in Bj;ker and Grant counties in the vicin ity of Whitney. This purchase will probably mean the erection of another large mill here, according to Mr. Gar dinier, if certain concessions in the way of vacating certain streets and alleys for switches, etc., can be se cured. The sum involved in the deal was not mentioned. The company is negotiating for an other large body of pine, says Mr. Gardinier, that may mean the location of a mill at Durkee, if the company cannot secure the concessions desired in Baker.
