"DIVINE SAUAH" WHO IS FEA
TURE OK FILM AT SHERRY'S
Dore"' and filmed since Bernhardt re
covered from amputation of one limb
at the knee, has a tone of -tragedy in
it, and Bernhardt has splendid oppor
tunity to utilize that wonderful facial
expression of her's. She sits mostly,
in me picture, some times-' moving
about but when she does it was per
fectly consistent that she employ the
arms of friends. The story deals with
a victim of the gambling lust, and his
son who falls the victim of a vampire.
There is a continuous run of heavy
acting for Bernhardt to do, and she
does it wonderfully well though no
one in the audience, knowing her in
firmities and aware that she is 71 and
over, can watch her performance with
out a pang of sympathy for the great
est actress of ages.
The picture is unique in that Bern
hardt is almost continually in the pic
ture, in sham contrast to the usual
custom for when she first bowed to the
screen she -was want to cut
iber acts to the minimum.
The pictureruns again tonight for
the last time.. It is not the storv but
the presence of Divine Sarah in it
that makes the film worth while and
one that will long linger in the mind
of him who sees it.

A realistic and convincing drama of
society life is "Matrimony," C. Gard-
, nor Sullivan's new play, which will be
jriven by the Triangle combination at
the, Arcade theatre Wednesday and
. Thursday. Julia Dean wears some
wonderful creations of Fifth avenue
modistes, and Thomas H. Ince has
achieved some charming effects in the
furnishings of the various rooms in
which the action takes place. How

the fickle husband, is the society man
to the finger tips and goes smoothly
about his wicked way of falling in
love with every siren that casts her
eyes his way.
When Julia Dean us the neglected
wife suddenly changes her tactics and
begins to flirt with all the men she
meets there is a subtle change in
Hickman as the husband. He begins
to lose interest in the women around
him in watching the spectacle of his
formerly subdued and domestic mate.
Finally he thinks it is time to inter
fere after he ihias found that his little
hints serve no purpose. On his failure
the way Hickman turns for comfort
to the love of his little daughter
(Thelma Salter) is the very picture
of the fond father. It all ends up with
a happy reconciliation.
"Stolen Magic."
Raymond Hibchcockrg contribution
to bbe Triangle program at the Ar
cade Wednesday and Thursday is a
burlesque on East Indian conjuration
entitled "Stolen Magic," in which he
is ably assisted by Mack Sennett,
Mabel Normand and other well
known Keystone nctors. Mr. Hitch
cock appears in the role of a traveler
liom India who wrings back to Amer
ica a work on magic and a collection
of sacred snakes. The Brahmin seek
ing to recover the magic scroll is
mixed up in the proceedings. An in
teresting "cutback" shows how Hitch
cock stole the magic book from an
East . Indian temple and how the
nnutch girls danced weirdly before
him. The Hindu pursuer is a bomb
thrower, and there are some funny
moments when Hitchcock and Sennett
get unwelcome possession of the
bomb.

Divine Sarah Wins.
La Grande theatre goers saw the
Divine Sarah (Bernhardt) perform
last evening at Sherry's theatre in
spite1 of her recent infirmities. The
film adapted from the novel "Jeanne
