Ten Dodges, making in all two car loads, are scheduled to be unloaded by Distributor L. C. Smith today. This shipment is already sold and deliv eries will begin as soon as the ma dhtines are unloaded. The shipment does not fill the orders already sold. ..' At the stailt of the present automo bile selling season which began, with roost companies, in the middle of last summer, several plans were adopted to give better service to the automo bile owner, recites . Wilson, local agent for the Hupmobile. He says: "The Hupp Motor Car Corporation started out witW its Series 'N' Hup mobiles with a definite guaranteed service system which it has now main tained for ten months and has met 1 with uniform success in all parts of I the country. The Hupmobile Nation- wide service plan has probably been j the greatest innovation vtlhiich that j live concern has made in several sea- sons. It is the first time . that an I owner of' on automobile has been guaranteed any definite and stated I care of his car. Individually dealers in various sections of the country have done this in the past, buft it was the Hupp' Corporation which first grasped the opportunity to make this system universal. By thlTHupp plan an owner is given fifty hours of free service divided over ten months. This, service may be secured at any of the Hupmobile service stations through out, the United States and Canada. These service stations are being in creased every week. The corporation starited out with a thousand stations in the early summer and has steadily increased until the number is now over' 3500 and a campaign is on to make this 6000 by May 1st. This will guarantee to every Hupmobile owner a station in any section of the. United States and Canada in which (he is likely to tour this summer. "Another addition to the Hupmobile service plan was recently added. This was a Hupmobile touring guide for the use of Hupmobile owners, which contains a list of service stations ar ranged by states. The use of this book gives a Hupmobilist 'en route' in formation as to wtere he can receive attention for his car. The tourist guide also gives valuable information in regard to tires, roads, etc. This book has become so popular that a second issue is now being prepared." - Automobiling is the greatest recreation of the nattion. ' . This big record of a tenth of a mil lion cars stands without a precedent in the manufacture of cars of this size and type. It was only in 1908 that Mr. Willys, as Wead of the Wlillys -Overland com pany, celebrated the production of 400 cars a year as the conclusion of a successful year's business. . These production figures have steadily risen so that you can drop out at the Overland plant most any Saturday morning and see them (build X Jl WO (Ureal (Lars : and ship more automobiles in Satur day's half day's work than were formerly built and shipped in an en tire year. Shipments to date are more than three times the volume for the same period last year. - There are 448 recognized makers of automobiles in the United States, Ac cording to estimate, they will produce upwards of a million cars during 1916. The iWillys-Overland company will build approximately 20 per cent of these to the value of more than a hundred million dollars. This entire 1916 production of Overlands and Willys-Knight's is sold and under conbract. Overland deal ers now number nearly 5000 in this country aitd Canada. These cars are known the length and breadth of iho world. Overland dealers and Overlaiid service are at hand in every civilized country. " Foreign dealers alone number about 500 and Overland cars are as familiar a sight in Reykjavik, Iceland, as in the streets of our own city. v Fishing Is Good. . AWWough streams arc high, good success fii fishing is reported from many directions yesterday. On the Wallowa branch Vincent was one of the points tried out. Meacham creek is reported to be -fairly clear, and in spite of much snow and high water it seems hshing will strike its pace at an early date this year. Evans La Grande Garage Phone Main 758 There was a fine meeting of stock holders and citizens at the citv hall Wednesday evening of this week, to take furither action relative to the 1916 Stock Show, enthusiastically ex claims the Union .Republican. Much enthusiasm was dhiown many plans discussed, and the dates for the show fixed at Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, June 14, 15, and 16 a trifle later than ordinary but Ithis was thought best owing to the probability tf (high water. The classification 'book will be rushed to completion and will bo ready in good season. The grounds will- be overhauled, fences and buildings repaired and the tr.ock placed in good condition. From now on, there will be a meet ing of the stock show force Wednes day night of each week, and all are urged to bear this in mind and be present if possible. The date for "the first stock show dance has been fixed for Friday evening, April 7 th, at Yorgason's Hall, and all are invited. iFrran this time on uritil the show comes, stock show matters will be kept humming.
