' T) .1 1 n O 1 . . 1 .....,., No change was mane today as the stuff coming in was mostly ordinary and from the valley. The volume of sales were limited and receipts were the smallest ever known on a Monday in the history of the yards. Trains are stalled and tied up in various ways and unable to get through. Manv shippers are keeping . their stuff on the farm until the' railroads are pos itively able to make the complete run without delays which might cause suf fering among the livestock. Long be fore noon the yards were bare, all stock on hand having been disposed of. This morning $7.50 was the hest price paid for hogs. It is anticipated that before the week is over, this top will be lifted and a new one estab lished. , Steers sold as high as $7.65, within a dime of the top and cows brought $6.75. The new sup er-dreadnought U. S. S. Pennsylvania, .one of the most powerful sea battlers afloat, began her trials off the Maine coast today. The Pennsylvania displaces 31,400 tons, is 608 feet over all, 97 feet in .breadth and will, if she fills her con tract agreement, be capable of devel oping 21 knots. Her main battery con sists of twelve 14-inch guns in four turrets, and four submerged torpedo tubes. In her secondary battery are twen ty-two 5-inch rapid fire guns, four 3 pounder saluting guns, two one-pcund- er guns for boats, two 3-inch field guns and two .30 calibre machine guns. Her full complement is 65 officers, 863 men and 74 mnrines.She has a fuel capacity of 694.830 gallons of oil and 2,322 tons of coal. Her total cost was $13,000,000. An idea of the monsters sizj and power can be better realized through comparison with the Deleware, laun ched in February 1909. and at that time considered the last word in man-o'-war. The Deleware diplaces 20,000 tons. She carries ten 12-inch guns in five turrets from which can be hurl ed a broadside of five tons. A broadside- from 'the Pennsylvania weighs seven and a half torn. The Pennsylvania wns the second ship to be launched since 1843 with ceremonies that included prayer. The pther was the Oklahoma, launched in 1914.
