Flour prices are going up; so arc
several- other commodities, but in
most instances it is rather the lux
uries class that has increasedyrather
than the necessities. Eggs are hold
ing their own remarkably well, not
withstanding that it is past time for
eees to hold their holiday scale. Col-
ery is now selling at 15 cents straight
and that scarcely leaves a margin at
all for the dealer. Onions have gone
to- three cents a pound.
Many Lines Strong.
Oranges and lemons are of great
streneth. All wheat products such
as cereals are advancing, coffee will
likely .advance, and in fact a dozen
different food stuffs are either ad
vancing or showing such strength
that an advance can be predicted with
certainty.

on the market; and dust insect powder
among the feathers of the birds, strok

tion and flesh than any other cause.
Tho birds should not bo frightened
by strangers and dogs, etc., entering
their premises.
1 The first feed should bo given about
7 o'clock in tho morning, and should be
thriwn in tho straw in tho hen house
so the hens will be kept busy scratch-
j in,r if or an hour or more. This is called
scratch feed No. 1.
Dry mash should be kept in slatted
hoppcre in sujh a way that they cun
not throw it out and this feed should
be kepi beforo thorn oil the time.:-
The second scratch feed should be
given about 8 d'clock in tho afternoon
and should be thrown in the hen house
so as to make them work for it.
Scratch feed No. 1 should consist of
the following: .
Wheat, one part; outs, onepart. 1
Scratch feed No.' 2 connists of the
following;
Sifted cracked corn (coarser part),
two parts; wheat, one part; oats, ono
part.
The dry mash should consist of:
Wheat bran, three parte: wheat mid
dlings, "two parts; ground oats, two
parts; Corn meal, one part; cottonseed
meal, one part: meat scrap, one part.
Thoroughly mixed.
In addition to this skim milk, clab
ber or buttermilk, should be given if
the same can be procured. If the birds
cannot get green feed they should be
given once a day. cabbage, mangles,
sprouted oats or any other green feed.
