T. Hattery appoint ed city physician. Mavor Best an nounced at the meeting that, inasmuch as no agreement mould 'be reached on a city attorney, the present incum bent. Charles H. The caucus was held behind closed doors earlier in the evening but re ports of the- discussion there have leaked oi.t. .. It is said that on the first iballot on the city attorneyship, five votes were cast for J. Roy Kaley, city attorney under Murphy, and three for Alger Fee. It is said that Mayor Best announced that he abso lutely would not stand for Raley for the reason that that attorney . had been actively opposed to him during the mayoralty campaign. Despite this announcement the second ballot stood the same and it was decided to permit the present ,city attorney to remain for the time being. tribute of a "unanimous vote on the first ballot. Dr. Haittery was nomi nated for the position of city Physi cian by Mayor Best and received six of the eight votes, according to re ports. The other two were" cast for the present incumbent, Dr. I. U. Tem-'l pie. .: The council chamber was crowded last evening by .people eager to hear I the new appointments. Mayor Best, by reason of his recent auto -evident, wore a bandage over one eye. He did not have his committee appoint- ents made and, in consequence, such business as came up was laid on the ble until the committees ere named.
