' r : The city commission positive ly did the right thing in order- , ing all dogs muzzled or shot, and it probably would have been bet ter had it excluded the muzzling and made the shooting order im perative. This is positively no time to procrastinate. It is no time for quibbling .and shedding useless tears. ' Evidence shows . that , the "leather muzzle is useless and quite likely at the next meeting of the commission that body will stipulate wire muzzles for the dogs. And in. making these drastic . rulings no official has any par ticular 'disregard for any particu lar dog. ' The officers are doing this tosave the people , of La Grande and vicinity from being subjected to rabid animals, the bite of which is too horrible to contemplate. , We know the old dog is a member of the family ; that his bark is next in music to the prattle of the children ; we know . that he has been with you a long "", time and has been your faithful friend through all of your trou bles and your joys.'
