Next Monday the 80 or 90 . mem bers of the Wing, Fin & Floetfoot club of this city will be tailed together in their second annual meeting . to elect officers. Following the business session there is going to be a smoker. Bocause the club has had a success ful initial year, a large attendance is expected and the policy for the coming year will .be outlined. Dr. Geo. W. Zimmerman is the retiring president and under his regime, the club Drosnered well. A united rabbit drive whereby 450 rabbits were slain was the big club undertaken of the year irt a sportsman's way, but dur ing the year the members attempted to enforce the game laws with the same rigor that the game warden does and not an arrest of a member of the club has been made this year for game law violation. They not oply live up themselves but on various oc casions saw that grouse and otner game birds were protected until the lid was off. Systematic guarding was done. All fish distributed to theh streams this year was under direction of the club. Cue Artists to Contest - Tonight. ' There is going to be an interest ing pool game this evening at the Club commencing at 8:80 p. m. The public is invited. LA GRANDE WINS AGAIN Decisive Victory Scored at Cove By Local Team Last Evening. La Grande high came a notch near er to championship last evening by trimming the Cove team 38 to 18. The Cove floor is small and slick, and it took, the visitors some little time to got agoing under the new conditiohs. Once acquainted with conditions, however, the rest was easy. Union Team Wins. The Cove Athletic association met the Union High school team in Union last night and an exciting game was played. The final score was 35-9 in favor of Union. In view of his remarkable achieve ments in the ring it is difficult to re alize that Carpenter -is still in his teens. It is not so difficult to under stand, however, when it is remember ed that he began his career as a fight er at the early age of twelve years. At that time he weighed but 75 pounds and iwas known as the "Little Demon." At the age of 13 he was proclaimed the ameteur . bantam champion of France. One year later he won the feather weight title and in the same year he added the light weight championship to his other hon ors. In 1912 he took the European middleweight from Tom Sullivan and then he began cleaning up the heavy weights. His latest victory was ms decisive win over Bombardier Wells, the big Britisher. In this and other of his recent fights Carpentier snow ed a comDlete chance of style from that which he displayed in tne eariy Dart of his career.
