The nature of the sickness was over-feeding, the horses became sick at the same time, and both died within a few hoursi ' ! J. S. Michells has just finished load ing a car of timothy hay at Island City.. . J. . Feik loaded two cars of choice timothy hay at Alicel the end of the week. A. L. Waite is rushing the work on his house which he expects to inish by Christmas. ' " ''' ' J. S. Mitchell iB confined to his iome with a slight Illness. Mrs. Walter Gibbons has been quite sick the last few days, but is reported some better at this writing. A. J. Feik made a trip to La Grande Monday with a load of oats. J. R. Beddes is busy Husking corn this week. Mr.' Beddes has grown some fine corn on his farm the last season. IS. D. Whiting is busy building a new corn barn. Grover Grimmitt is busy this week chopping grain on his place. Haukins Mitchell went to La Grande the end of the week to meet his wife who is teaching school in the Elgin district. Mrs. , Mitchell was in La Grande to attend -the teachers' examinations. E. L. Whitney has been employed the past two weeks on A. L. Wait's house. ' ' The people of this vicinity are plan ning to have a' big time Christmas eve; a special celebration will be given. -' Will Niberger from Union, was in this vicinity the first part of the week on business. . ' Joe Leak and wife made a trip to Summerville Sunday and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Toney End. Dr. H. W. Riley made several trips to Mt. Glenn during the week, on professional business. ' ' Harvey Larson has accepted a position as baggage master with the O.-W. ' Mrs. Erma Hendrickson of Kirr.ba'lj Alberta, Canad, is visiting relatives' and friends in this vicinity. Mrs. Hendrickson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Perry of La Grande. The boys of Mt. Glenn went gun ning Saturday and after the day's hunt, brought home a bunch of rab bits and a porcupine. The boys then planned a real bachelor's dinner. Sun day all got together and dressed their game, with Lamar Westenscow and Ralph Hendricks acting as chefs, the porcupine was soon preparea ana me boys all had ; an enjoyaDie ume, After the dinner was over the quills tooth nicks.
