Miss Ownbey is teaching school at Minam. S P. Shutt and family have moved to the Scribner house on Barton Heights. ' Misses Pansy Foster and Ennis Lawson visited friends in Enterprise over Sunday. Jerry Rusk, of La Grande, was a business visitor in Joseph last week, 'judge Olmstead, of Enterprise, vis ited friends in Joseph last week. Mrs. Viola Feistner is here from Boise visiting her sister Mrs. J. W. Isley. . Stanley and Peter LeGore have gone to the divide to erect a large hay barn for Henry Mitchell. Frank Minnick and wife of Union, are here visiting relatives, Hayes Kernan and wife. Mr. Minnick is to take charge of the Farmer's Un- store at Evans. Mr. Minnick was formerly engaged in business at Union. ' ' W. O. Manion and E. P. Martin, working on the extension branch of Woodmen of the World, delivered a lecture on the benefits derived from this lodge at the Odd Fellows hall last Tuesday. These men speak very hiehlv of this country and Mr. Mar tin expects to spend his vacation nere next summer. Hayes Kernan has sold his two choice lots on lower Main street to his brother Frank, who expects to build a business house thereon next serine. The Joseph Co-Operative Creamery has leased their creamery to the Jen sen Creamery Co. They have also secured the creamery at Wallowa. Dr. Mount was called to Imnaha last Thursday to see Mrs. HarlAk ins who is very sick. Waldo Chase of Imnaha is in town this week. Mr. Chase and Artnur Wilson are feeding three hundred head of cattle at the Park on Imnaha this winter. Dr. Gillis returned home last week from Portland where he took Mrs. Albert Kinney to be operated on. Mrs. Kinney is getting along nicely. Mrs. Elmer Dobbin of Portland, is here visiting her son, Jay Dobbin, at his country home. The measles have broken out in h,n terprise. Mr. Graves ol that place is quarantined. The following stockmen from this place attended the big stock show in Portland last week: Jay Dobbin, C, Dorrance, Hugh Wilson, Sam Wade, W. Al Jones. C. P. Ragsdale, T. O Prout, Mr. Clark and F. A. Gay lord. Mrs. Polk Mays left last Wednes day for a visit with her parents at Fossil, Oregon, Grandpa and Mrs, Bert Kelsay. Polk Mays will also visit his Fossil friends after making a business trip to Portland next week, The Joseph Orchestra will give another grand ball in Roup's hall on Christmas night, December 25.
