North Powder. Aug. 12. The
North Powder News says: The city
council met in regular session Mon
day night with ' Mayor Lambert pre
siding. All members were present ex
ceptCouncilmen Smith and Johnson,
who are out of the'city.
The usual number of bills for ex
penses were allowed. y
The ditch in front of the Wiggins
residence was declared a nuisance and
an ordinance was drafted and passed
to third reading to abate the nuisance.
The executrix of the Kelsey estate
was represented at the council meet
ing and expressed a willingness to
either pipe or plank the ditch through
the city. .
It was decided to sprinkle the streets
and the Recorder was instructed to
advertise for bids for the work.
The city marshal was instructed to
have the weeds in the streets cut and
to notify property owners to do like
wise on their premises.
An ordinance authorizing an elec
tion for issuance of bonds for build-

Cove, and the nephew of the late ex
United States Senator Slater of this
state. Both the bride and the groom
have a large number of friends all
through the community, and all join
