The old and amended sections, of the law as passed, and vouched for by Senator E. E. Kiddle, say: Sec. 6. For the purpose of main taining: the several county fairs, land product shows and livestock exposi tions, and constructing good roads In the several counties, as In this act provided, there Is hereby appropriat ed on June 15, 1913, and annually thereafter out of any funds In the hands of the state treasurer, not otherwise appropriated, such a sum as may be raised by levying a lax of one-twentieth of a mill upon tho tax able property of the state as lust equalized by the s'ate board of tax commlHioners, the said tax Jto be up portioned among and collected from the several counties as the'.r state taxes are apportioned and collected. Section 2. Any funds raised by this act remaining In the hands of the state treasurer, after the provis ions of this act have been complied with, shall be equally divided among the counties of the state as herein provided, and shall be used for' premiums on livestock and horticul tural exhibits by the different fair boards of the counties. Section 8 Should a county-through its county fair board decide to hold a fair, the funds paid Into the hands of the county treasurer, as provided In section 7, shall bo- used In the pay ment of premiums at said fairs; pre vlded however, that no part of the said funds shall be awarded as prem iums or prizes for trials of speed. Should a county fair be held the said funds In the hands of the county treasurer shall be disbursed upon warrants drawn by the county fair boad and signed by the president and secretary thereof; provided, further, that In any county In this state where a state fair Is held, all money re ceived under the provlsons of this act shall be disbursed upon warrants or dered drawn by the state fair board, and signed by the. president and sec retary; provided further, that the county court of any county receiving the maximum amount of funds pro vided In this act shall determine which certain fairs land products, or live stock shews shall e entitled to receive said funds and the amount of each to be received and upon the or der of said court the county treasur er shall disburse as hereinabove pro vided; provided further, thati upon the application of the president of the Pacific International Live stock exposition the county court of Mult nomah county shall turn over to the treasurer of such organization not later than. July 31st of each year, the miu of $5000 out of the funds receiv ed by Multnomah county under the provisions of this act. The Money so received by said organization shall be used exclusively for the purpose of paying premiums' on exhibits at the annual show held under Its direc tion and control. Section 9. Should a county fair board decide not to hold a county fair the county court may In Its discretion expend such funds, or any portion thereof In support of any fair, land products shows or live stock exposi tions offering prizes which may be competed for. In any county In this state; provided however, that such funds shall be used only for the pur poses of paying premiums upon ex hibits of live stock, agricultural and horticultural products; and provid ed further, should the said funds In the hands of the county treasurer be not evie-rtel in ""wort of a county fair, or a fair, live stock exposlton or land products show where all counties In this state mar compete, the said funds shall on the 2nd day of January following the date of their payment to the county treasurer by the secretary of state, be transferred to the general road fund of the county and expended In the construc tion of good roads of said county. The amounts that fall to some of the Eastern Oregon counties by this law are: Union $1,203.7"; Wallowa $704.68; Baker $1,295.54; Umatilla $2,178.78.
