"By buying slightly deteriorated property, repairing ii improving its appearance, and then selling at a ma terial advance I earned my start in the financial world." -Thus spoke a man who has made much money by dealing in real estate. . f Tro the modern world is becoming intensely practical, yet he esthetic - still plays an important part in even rvr btiiness transactions. The neatness, the cleanli-, rieic, the beauty of a thing appeal far stronger than the practical value. All things in regard to utility being equal, the most' attractive will gain the preference every time. This material age even directly develops an improved esthetic sense. The most useful is that which is plain, and regular, and clean. Older, not confusion, is the goal of intelligence. That which is irregular, fancy and therefore liable to be unsanitaryis the refuge cf legions of microbes. , An old "shack' cleaned, papered, repaired, the lawn improved, the roof repaired, and the foundation strengthened makea a more attractive home than a modern house that has been neglected and allowed to deteriorate. You can do what the man did, if you will. You can make a start, or increase -what you have by dealing right here at home. La Grande is the nucleus as well as the object pont of several heehives that are going to stir things up in this sec tion before long. We have many - bargains for sale in homes that are in good condition, and with a little paint and some soap and water they can easily be transformed into an inviting home that will sell at a substantial advance. Why not investigate bur licts and see if you can not find a" good investment or a desirable home for yourself? GEO. H. GURREY 108 ELM STREET He Who Sells REAL ESTATE LA GRANDE, OR.
