West and Ed Relsland were passengers to Imbler this morning where they will put on the finishing touches to a 600 foot well drilled for Mr. Dornberger, manager of a large fruit ranch. ' New Church Contract Let The electric fixtures for the new Catholic church have been' purchased the deal being closed Saturday when C. W. Chamberlain representing the Ralston Electric Supply company, of Albany, was In Wallowa, and closed the contract with Father Murphy. U. R. Wilson "will Install the new fix tures says the Walolwa Sun. The farmers telephone company have presented a petition to the city council in which they request that the city council appoint a committee to meet a committee of the telephone company for the purpose jt looking tnt the matter f a francnise. At tne last meeting of the council this mat ter did not come before the council owins to an oversight of the city re corder. The petition got mixed up amoiut other papers and the same will be brought before the next meeting of the coundhnen. Oddle Wants Dlverce Chantre. Carson, Nev., Jan. 20. In his open ing message to the legislature, Gov ernor Oddle urged the passage of a measure which provides that the res idence clause of the divorce law be changed from six months to one year. This provision is aimed at the colony of divorce seekers who make a mecca of the widely known city of Reno. So ciety women are at Reno at the pres ent time waiting for the lapse of the required period of time to allow them to seek divorcee from their husbands.
