Starkey, Jan. 3 (Special) Starkey has enjoyed beautiful winter weather up till the 27 when It registered 10 de greea below zero but has moderated and the night of the 2Sth six inches of gnow fell. Everyone has their stotk In off the hills and have commenced their win ter feeding. The Starkey Needlecraft club gave a Christmas tree on Christmas eve at the school house. The singing and recitations by the young folks uuuer liie- auspices of iNeedlocrari Club President Mrs. J. Alden was pronounced a great success. Snnta ClauB made the children's hearts glad with an abundance of candy, nuts and oranges and the older ones with many useful gifts. Everyone attended. Mies Flora McShaln, our esteemed teacher, spent the holidays with her mother at Elgin. Miss Adkins of La Grande, also John and Ell Adkins of the G. R. L. camp, spent Christmas with their sister, Mrs. John Robertson. Mr. and Mrs. Alva Burnettt spen Christmas with his father and moth er, Mr. and Mrs. Press Burnett. The river was frozen over hard enough on the 26th to enable Mr. E. M. Coombs to haul a load of grain across to his home . Mountain View ranch. The Needlecraft club has been mak Ing improvements at their club rooms by painting, papering and new furniture and have now added a two years supply of good wood, which means a good time the coming year.
