Starkey, Jan. 3 (Special) Starkey
has enjoyed beautiful winter weather
up till the 27 when It registered 10 de
greea below zero but has moderated

of gnow fell.

ter feeding.
The Starkey Needlecraft club gave
a Christmas tree on Christmas eve
at the school house. The singing
and recitations by the young folks

Club President Mrs. J. Alden was
pronounced a great success. Snnta
ClauB made the children's hearts
glad with an abundance of candy,
nuts and oranges and the older ones
with many useful gifts. Everyone
attended.
Mies Flora McShaln, our esteemed
teacher, spent the holidays with her
mother at Elgin.
Miss Adkins of La Grande, also
John and Ell Adkins of the G. R. L.
camp, spent Christmas with their
sister, Mrs. John Robertson.

The river was frozen over hard
enough on the 26th to enable Mr. E.
M. Coombs to haul a load of grain

The Needlecraft club has been mak

years supply of good wood, which
means a good time the coming year.
