It is accounted for by the rnsh of social life over which the ac tual Christmas week rolls. Monday and Friday eveuiaga each saw an ele gant dunclng party at the Elks' au ditorium. The Elks' auditorium has been decorated be fore, hut It is doubtful if it was fin tnhed as beautifully as It was both Monday and Friday evenings. On Monday a novel and new scheme of the decorating art created a fextoony canopy over the entire dancing floor with the lengthwise center beam of the celling the catching point anii from tho fastenings the garlands wnng in graceful curves, tmrallel, to the wall space and there fastened again equidistant from the floor, large mirrors breaking the line of fasten ing. Supplementary to the main canopy were four minor ones, one la a corner, forming rest nooks and adding to the happy blending of color created by the shades of festoons. The rohtrum wis latticed in with harmonious rotors. Indian robes cov ered all the seats and gave a touch of lor to the entire combination that was pleasing.
