Haines, in Baker county, is rated as one of the really big hay-producing districts and from there 100.004 tons are being shipped to l'ortlnd this week. Por tions, however, are going elsewhere, but Portland is taking the bulk. With this starter Wallowa, Union and other Eastern Oregon hay pro ducers are commencing the system atic sale of hay that goes on during the winter months and all of these districts have plenty of hay to sell, though heavy rains at the wrong period took the first class tone off much hay this summer. In this county hay prices are rel maining firm with considerable or ferlngs. Local dealers, like the Haines shippers, aro sending their stuff westward where the best mar kets are obtainable.
