Missionary Conference to Be Stellar , Charts Event Tomorrow. Tomorrow tbe regular quarterly conference of tbe L. D. S. (Mormon) cbnrcb will convene at Union. For many years these general conferences of tbe Union stake bave been held In this city but to encourage tbe stock show and to show appreciation of tbe Union members of tbts church it was decided to. bold it In Union where a a huge tent has been erected and every preparation made for the comfort of visiting member. It is reported . by tbe bishop at Union that every bouse bas been canvassed and that sleep ing accommodations bave been pre pared for four hundred so tbat visi tors from bere, Baker, Imbler, Cove and other places will be well cared for. ; - -. Bishop Hanks, with others, bas de voted much time to make things plea sant for all who go. A special train will leave bere on Sunday at 8:30 a. m. and (he La Grande choir under tbe leadership of Prof. W. K. A num ber of special trains reached tbe cap ital today with delegations to attend the unveiling ot the fraat Columbus memorial recently erected on tbe plaza In front ot tbe union station. Tbe unveiling will take place tomor row and yie event promises to be one of the most notable ot its kind that bas ever taken place in this country. It is conservatively esti mated .that .100,000 visitors will be in attendance, They are on their way from every section of the Unit ed States and Canada. The most of them are members ot tbe Knights of Columbus, which organization is to have chance of tbe ceremonies of tbe day. The unveiling is to be preceded by a monster street parade, which Is ex nected to equal in numerical import ance tbe presidential inauguration pageants. In addition to the Knights of Columbus and representatives of other civic bodies the marchers will Include thousands of soldiers, sailors and marines. Gen. R. K. Evans, chief of the militia departmentfikflqffj. .N of the militia division of the war de- parment, will act as grand marshal. Secretary of State Knox will pre side at tbe unveiling ceremnoies. The invocation will be by Kt. Rev. Mgr. Thomas Shahan, rector of the Catho lic University of America. The init ial address will be delivered by Chief Justice Victor J. Dowllng of the su preme court of the state of New York. Marquis Cusani Confalonierl, Italian ambassador to the United States, will unveil the statue. President Taft will then address the assemblage, as will also Representative James T. Mc Cleary, who was instrumental in hav ing the Columbus memorial bill pas sed by congress.
