Closing Review of Week's Activities In
City School Work.

The school term Is Hone; yes well
done.. It seemed at first as though the
public at large was ni very deeply
Interested in school affairs. After
these school notes were first printed
however, the people came to look for
them and, If placed in some obscure
corner o'f the paper, demanded,
"Where" were laBt week's school
notes?" For a while, from this Issue
until Sept. 9, we shall suspend this
phase along with the school work.
Schooling, however, will nbt entirely
ceaBe. , Prof. Stout will conduct a
summer school. The first three weeks
It will be as a teachers' training
for those who will try for teachers'
certificates at the June examintatons.
Later those who failed or were not
able to enter Into the last eighth grade
exams will be given a chance to make
up their work here. . i
Miss Muriel Moss won the shorthand I
prize in the -contest last week. The1
contest dictation was given at' about j
80 words per minute and was so close
ly followed by the contestants that ltl
was difficult to pick the winner. The
prize won by Miss Moss was a "Com
plete Course In Court Reporting," in
the Gregg sy3..em.
Thursday afternoon Misses Thomp
son and Bunnell gave a picnic to
their classes. . Place: on the hills.
Everyone reported a comfortable time
with respect to locality.
Misses Allen, Fruit. and McMlllinn
left Friday for the east where they
will spend their vacations. , ,
