With & view to establishing Eastern Oregon head quarters ,ln Pendleton nml organizing tliu club women of this section of t Ho state in behalf of the equal suffrage movement, ftlrs. C. B. Wade, formerly of Pendleton, and now a resident of I.os Angeles, arrived here yeaterday nnd 19 already busy with her work. . At present Mrs. Wade Is the guest' of Mrs. Thomas Thompson at the hitter's homo on Water street. Later on nn office may bo opened lwo fo' tho purpose of serving as henddunr- ters for carrying onMho campaign in I Eastern Oregon, In either event Mrs. Wade expects to bo here most of IV time and to dwote her efforts from now until next fall to working in this way In behalf of suffrage, Mrs. Wade served for five years as president of the women's clubs of Oregon and is therefore In very close touch with the work of those organ izations. She was an active worker in tho recent equal suffrage campaigi In Los Angeles and in the Los An geles city election. She Is quite fa miliar with the methods followed in California nnd feels that tslnt'lnr methods will prove effective in Oregon. It Is the hope of Mrs. Wade that the local club women will become in terested In the suffrage campaign and , that a club may be formed for the purpose of enlisting the women in ; tho move and creating sentiment in j favor of stiff ragf. Plans for tho or gnnlnt'on have not yet been perfecta l as Mrs. Wade first, wishes to consult with the local ladies In regard to a method of procedure. However, si)3 has been given much encouragement and Is optimistic over the outlook. Mrs. Wad a Is working under tli? National Women's .Club . association which Ib a separate organization from the one under which Mrs. Rrghott, who lectures here tonight, Is serving. However, the two organizations havt a common end and work In harmony for obtaining "Votes for Women." At the city hall this evening Mrs. Sarah Bard Field Ehrgott, official lecturer and organize rfor the Ore gon Equal Suffrage league, will de liver an address upon the subject of equal suffrage nnd it will constitute the first local meeting held to ad vance the suffrage cause In the elec tion to be held this fall, says the Pen dleton East Oregonian for Thursday. Mrs. Ehrgott conies here from the west end of the county where she has been working In Henniston, Stan jfield and Echo. She was to be ac companied by Mrs. Sarah Connuei -ford but owing to illness on the part or' tho latter she will not be in in tend ance at the meeting here this evening. It was also the intention of Mrs. Ehrgott to attempt the organization of a local branch of the equal stiff nu : league. It is possible, however, that this move will be deferred for a 'time owing to the fact that efforts are un derway to enlist the present local club organization In the fight. Mrs. C.' 1).
