Union county also was heard from at yesterday's meeting. J. H. Peare, chairman, of the Union county central committee, wrote ' Chairman Selling that the committee Is desirous, to set to work to bring about the re-election of President Taft. Mr. Peare forward- led a list of stalwarts among the ve-publlcans-of that county who will bo formed 'into' a strong . organization that is expected to do great work lu that part of the state throughout the campaign. A - number of letters, from other counties were received,- all of which indicate that Taft sentiment is strong and that he Is wanted as the republl can candidate for president again this year. The progress of the campaign which in under way by the. Taft committee , has beon marked during the. last few days, according to a report made by Chairman Selling. He said the work is being rushed as rapidly as possible The work of preparing literature regarding the' enviable, record of the president during his present admintS' tration was started last week and hunj dreds of letters were dispatched in preparation for the public meetings which are to be held throughout the state. The committee will meet again next Monday afternooh at 4:30 o'clock when it Is expected the campaign will be well started not only In Multnomah county, but also In most all the other counties of the state. , .
